Citizens
Restaurant is a casual dining restaurant located in the heart of Nevada
City's historic district. The restaurant is owned by Clay Collins, one
of the area's top young chefs. Clay's kitchen staff hand prepares all
dishes from scratch, with gourmet pizzas, specialty pasta dishes,
unique sandwiches and hand tossed salads on the menu.

The restaurant is located in the historic Citizens Bank building on Broad Street, the "main" street
of Nevada City. The building has a great history and ambiance, dating back to the gold rush era.
The restaurant's rear dining room was once an assay office. Lore has it that there is gold hidden
somewhere in the brick walls, and that there is a resident ghost!

In 1979 the Citizens building first housed a restaurant, Citizens Pizza. In July of 2004 Clay purchased the
business. With the goal of providing a great casual dining experience, he revamped the menu and redecorated
the dining rooms. Clay is happy to report that the restaurant's reputation is growing and business is great!
